Our client, a leading life and annuity insurance firm, is seeking an Investment Accountant to support the accounting and reporting of a diverse investment portfolio. Key Responsibilities
• Perform investment accounting and month‑end close activities for fixed income, structured products, alternatives, and affiliated investments supporting life and annuity products
• Prepare and review GAAP and Statutory investment accounting schedules and supporting documentation
• Support quarterly and annual financial reporting, including statutory filings and footnote disclosures
• Partner with asset management, actuarial, and finance teams to ensure accurate treatment of investment impacts on insurance liabilities
• Assist with internal and external audits by preparing schedules, responding to inquiries, and supporting control documentation
• Maintain strong internal controls over investment accounting processes and help drive process improvements and automation
• Monitor compliance with accounting policies, investment guidelines, and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA or CPA‑track strongly preferred)
• 3-5 years of experience in investment accounting within insurance, asset management, financial services, or public accounting with financial services clients
• Strong understanding of GAAP and Statutory Accounting Principles as they relate to insurance investments
• Proficiency in Excel; experience with investment accounting systems (e.g., PAM, Clearwater, Eagle, Aladdin) is highly desirable
• Detail‑oriented with strong analytical and reconciliation skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams
